The Royz Band musicians are all members of The Toronto Chapter of The American Federation of Musicians of The United States and Canada.

André and Heather are members of SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada).

Heather has dual Canadian and American Citizenship, allowing the band to work freely in both countries.

The Royz Band plays an average of 250 engagements a year in the Toronto & GTA area for a huge variety of events. Performing for Weddings, Black Tie Galas, Fundraisers, Society Functions, Corporate Events, Dinner Dances, Concerts, Award Shows, Private Clubs, Mitzvahs, Dance Parties and so much more. Now based in Toronto, Heather began her musical career at the age of 14 with regular performances on CBC TV in Montreal.

Heather has a five octave vocal range and sings in a dizzying array of styles and genres. She sweeps from sultry jazz to crystal clear opera and celtic, then puts on her powerhouse vocals for R & B, rock and all styles of dance music.

Heather is also a dynamic percussionist - playing congas, bongos and a full stand up percussion kit to give The Royz Band a driving, energetic and unique sound.

Heather is also DJ Bongogirl - mixing and pumping the beat when the DJ system is in session.

Originally from Montréal, André began performing and touring with Quebec recording artists while still in his early teens.

André attended the music programs at both Vanier College and McGill University before being awarded a prestigious Canada Council grant to further his music study at the world-renowned Berklee College Of Music in Boston.

It was at Berklee that André was introduced to the 7-string guitar by one of his professors who recognized Andre's unique musicianship and became his mentor.

Now based in Toronto, André is one of Canada's few 7-string guitarists - and a crooning, grooving, rocking versatile vocalist.

As the musical arranger for the band, André's committment and dedication to every form of music has given The Royz Band a sound that will simultaneously create the perfect ambiance, inspire the music aficionados, get the ballroom dancers on their feet....... and totally rock the house.

André is completely bilingual in both French and English.

John Pagnotta

John's outstanding musical talent adds immeasurably to The Royz Band whether he is the third integral member of The Incredible Trio, or as the leader of the horn section with the larger band.

Born and raised in Toronto, John has worked professionally as a studio session player and has toured and performed with numerous bands and musicians in North America.

John is currently on faculty at the Claude Watson school of Performing Arts where he teaches Jazz Band, running class ensembles of 18 to 24 pieces. The Jazz Report credited the school's program as the "Top Jazz program in Canada"

John's depth of musicality is truly amazing as he switches from lead and harmony vocals to sax, flute & percussion, bringing passion and musical energy to every song and every genre.

John also speaks Italian fluently, and performs all lead Italian vocals for The Royz Band

Paul brings all his amazing multi-instrumental musical talents onto the stage as the alternate sax/flute/woodwind/vocalist within The Royz Band Trio, or as keyboards, second sax and vocals in the larger band format.

Now based in Toronto, Paul Lamoureux was born in Edmonton.

Paul's musical training includes classical piano, saxophone, flute and clarinet. He has received both Bachlors and Masters Degrees in Music from the prestigious North Texas State University.

Since returning to Canada Paul has been in great demand as a freelance musical director and producer with CBC French Radio and Television, and as a "pit" musician for musical theatre productions such as " Jesus Christ Superstar " and " Hair".

Paul presently teaches courses at the Royal Conservatory of Music and is also an Instructor of Music Technology at the University of Guelph .

Paul is fluently bilingual in both English and French.

While the Incredible Trio is comparable to a standard five or six piece band in terms of sound, the size of Royz Band format that you choose is basically only a matter of your budget and vision.

The Rhythm Section
  • Live Drum kit in addition to Heather's Percussion kit adds a wonderful and dynamic beat. If you want to upgrade to the four piece band or larger, adding the live drums is a must.
 
Paul Paolini

Paul Paolini has been playing the drums professionally in Toronto since the age of ten.

He has performed and recorded with artists such as Ben E. King, Percy Sledge, The Crystals, Little Anthony and numerous other international and local artists.

Paul is also a member of the 2003 Juno award winning Robert Michaels band.

Paul performs regularly with The Royz Band within the four-piece or larger band.

    A fabulous addition if you want Big Band, Swing, R & B or other horn driven musical material to be a large focus of your event.

    Our brass players also double on Heather's percussion kit and other percussion instruments as well as adding extra vocal harmonies.

Pat Wheeler
Tenor & Soprano Saxophone, Flute, Percussion & Backing Vocals
 

Saxophonist Patricia Wheeler has long been a favorite musician in Toronto, lending her distinctive voice to such ensembles as The Neufeld-Occhipinti Jazz Orchestra (NOJO), Jim Clayton, Ritmo Azul, Ron Davis Ensemble, and countless other musical tribes.

As either the third musician for The Royz Band trio, or within the horn section of the larger band, Pat brings incredible musicality, tone and excitement to the stage as she performs on flute, tenor, alto and soprano saxophones, percussion and backing vocals.

Pat teaches Jazz and saxophone at Humber College's Music Department and like Heather, shares a passion for horses. Pat trains and competes on the Trillium Circuit in the Hunter Class with her Thoroughbred gelding Dexter.

Pat also leads her own highly acclaimed band The Absolute Faith Orchestra, performing her own original jazz material.

 

String Section
  • Violin, Cello and other string instruments add a sweetness to the sound, as well as a driving visual performance during the dance sections. Choose this option if you want a softer 4 piece band sound, or if you want the live strings to add to the larger band ensemble.
 
 
Chris McKhool

Chris McKhool adds his fabulous talents to The Royz Band sound whenever live strings are desired, either by performing as the fourth musician as a quartet ensemble, or within the string section of the larger band.

Chris performed this past year with Club Django, nominated for the 2004 National Jazz Awards in Canada, and has also leads his own quartet. He is the recipient of Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council & PromoFact Awards.

Chris has performed in festivals, halls and schools on all three coasts of Canada. Touring highlights include the Toronto Distillery Jazz Festival, the Vancouver and London International Children's Festivals, the National Gallery Auditorium in Ottawa and Toronto's First Night at the Skydome. Abroad Chris has performed in the U.S., England, Cuba and Tibetan schools across the Indian Himalayas.

Expanded Sound and Light Packages
  • All Royz Band packages come with our basic sound and light package which includes two towers delivering complete stage lighting onto the band. Most of our clients find our basic package absolutely perfect for their event.
  • However, if you are looking for that extra "WOW" effect, here's a great added option:

    EXPANDED SOUND AND LIGHT PACKAGES

    Extra sound and light packages can be added to the band's basic sound and light set-up to enhance the band's performance and create visual and acoustical magic.

    Additional sound and light options can be added to any band size. Prices will vary depending on options chosen.

    Some of the options available for larger events include concert sized front stage sound systems with mid and far room delay speakers, multi-truss lighting, live follow spots, live video feed & screens, as well as total audio & visual requirements for your entire event.

    For smaller events, extra options can range from stationary backdrops and ambiant lighting to technician assisted additional stage and/or dance floor lighting & effects.

    Our dedicated and professional sound and light crew will ensure the sound and light will be spectacular, no matter what size of Royz Band format you choose.
